#7 Poppy Seed Coconut Milk Payasam

Poppy seed Coconut  milk payasam is another south Indian home made desert.

A great desert on a Sunday afternoon post lunch....Hmmmm....Sleep guaranteed 🙂

You cannot win to avoid your sleep if post eating this. Traditionally, grandmas make this to kids so that they a good sound sleep. This is one my favorite recipe that my Mom does for me often.

Note: Poppy seed may not be allowed in most countries and I recommend you to review well your local laws before wanting to try this.

 Ingredients:

  1. Poppy Seeds or kasa kasa  - 3 tblsp
  2. Raw Rice - 2 tbsp
  3. Jaggery  -1/2 cup
  4. grated coconut - 3 tblsp
  5. Water - 1 cup
  6. Cardamom powder - 1 pinch
  7. Coconut milk - 2 cup
  8. Cashews - 8

Method:

1.Soak the poppy seeds( kasa kasa)+raw rice in hot water for 2 to 3 hours.( to allow even grinding of the mix)

2.Add soaked poppy seed ( kasa kasa)+ raw rice + grated coconut + water and grind it in a smooth paste.

3. Take a pan  and add Jagery add water and melt the jaggery.

4.then add the paste cook it until the raw smell goes off.

5.Lastly add the coconut milk and cook it for 5 mins.

 

Yummy Kasa Kasa payasam is ready now. Enjoy... See you again!!
