#26 JackFruit (Palapazham) Payasam

This is my second payasam recipe with fruit.My mom used to prepare this during my school days. This is another delicious and aromatic payasam that Kids wont miss.

Ingredients:

Paasi Paruppu ( Moong Dal) - 3 tbsp

Jack Fruit pieces - 6 pieces.

Jaggery - 1/4 cup

Coconut milk -1/2 cup

Ghee - 2 tbsp

cashew nut - 5

Coconut ( chopped/ small pieces) - 2 tbsp

Dry ginger - a pinch

Cardamom powder -a pinch.

Method:

1.Slice the Jackfruit and fine chop it.

2.Take a small cooker and add 3 tbsp of moong dal and wash it for 3 times.

3.Add 1 cup of water in the Moong Dal and add the chopped Jackfruit into it.

4.Pressure cook the contents for 3 whistles.

5. Let the pressure cool off, smash the moong dal and jack fruit mix to a paste.

6. Take pan add the paste and heat it in the low flame.

7.Take another pan and 1/4 cup of Jaggery and little amount of water.

8.Heat until the jaggery melts .

9.Let it boil well and get thick.

8.Filter  the jaggery in the cooked Jack fruit.Add a pinch of dry ginger powder in a low flame. Then add cardamom powder and mix it well.

 

9.Add thick coconut milk and boil for 2 to 3 minutes in low flame.

10. Take a small pan and 2 tbsp of ghee and fry the cashew nuts and coconut pieces.

11.Once the contents are thick molten state,add ghee,toasted cashew nuts and coconut pieces.

 

 

Yummy Jackfruit Payasam is ready to serve!!!

Note: Add Cardamom,dry ginger powder gives a nice flavour to this payasam.
