#52 PottuKadalai Urundai/Maaladdu

Pottukadalai Urundai or Maaladdu is one of the easiest recipes made during festive occasions in Tamilnadu.

These are quick and easy ladoo made with few ingredients. Ideal to make during Deepavali festival.

Pottukadalai Urundai is the first sweet that myself,mom and sister used to make in our house every year for Deepavali.

Out of other plateful of sweets that my Mom makes for every Deepavali,this is my favorite. This melting sweet as you take will definitely drive you crazy about sweets.

I would say, PottuKadalai is a gateway of sweets world 🙂 - A very basic first thing that you would like to try to start making sweets.

 

Ingredients:

Roasted gram Daal/PottuKadalai - 1/2 Kg

Sugar - 1/2 Kg

Cardamon / Elaichi - 2 tsp

Cashew nut - 20 Nos

Ghee - 1.2 to 3/4 cup (as needed)

Method:

Take a mixer jar and grind the Pottukadalai to a fine powder.

Next grind the Sugar with Elaichi to a fine powder as well.

Place powdered Pottukadalai & Sugar in a mixing bowl and mix  them well.

Heat Ghee, fry Cashew nuts until golden in colour.

Add ghee with cashews to the bowl  and mix well. Add 1 or 2 tsp of hot ghee and Shape every time you make the rounds.

If you are not able to shape it , add 1 or 2 tsp of more hot ghee and shape it.

Pottukadalai Urundai is ready for Deepavali.

 

Note:

For the above given measurement, you can make 40 Urundai ( rounds) with the size as given in photos.
