#62 Pepper Rasam

Pepper Rasam needs no introduction and till date it is the best home remedy for cold. This post is to share you an easy way of keeping Pepper  Rasam with garlic.

It helps to fight throat infection and makes you feel better. Garlic is natural antibiotic and fights the fights the viral throat infection too.


Pepper - 1 tbsp

Red Chili - 2 Nos

Garlic - 3 cloves

Tamarind - 1 small round ( goose berry sized)

Salt - as needed.

Curry Leaves

Tomato - 1 medium size (ripped tomato)

Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp

Turmeric - 1/4 tsp

Mustard seeds - 1 tsp,

Fenugreek - 1/2 tsp

Coriander leaves.


Soak tamarind in a cup of warm water and extract its juice.

Grind Cumin seeds ,pepper and garlic for a few seconds in a mixer or you can just  pound it using mortar and pestle.

Take a bowl add 1 medium size ripped tomato and smash it with hands.

Heat the Kadai add the 1 tsp of oil after oil got heated then add 1 tsp of mustard seeds after it got cracked add 1/2 tsp of fenugreek and 2  red chilies.

Mix it well then add turmeric powder salt as required for Rasam. Then add curry leaves.

Now add ground powder into it. You would get  good aroma of Rasam now. This is possible only with fresh ground powder.

Then add smashed tomato into it Cook for 3 mins.

After that add juice extract of tamarind add 1 1/2 cup of water. Then add fresh coriander leaves. Cook it in the low flame.

Note Rasam should not boil for long time. If it gets started boiling switch  off the flame.

Spicy Tasty Pepper Rasam is ready to Serve.
