Print Friendly, PDF & Email

As I write this blog in the month which is full of festive and Holiday season, just  had a thought ,what if I could write my own simple way to help beginners who are interested in baking and cake making. The result of that is this recipe and steps for you to try for this Christmas/New Year. A fresh egg less base cake with minimal ingredients in a quicker way.

Years ago, i first tried this recipe using a normal pressure cooker when i never had an oven.

Ingredients:

Sugar -1 cup

All Purpose Flour - 1 cup

Cinnamon - 1/2 inch stick

Clove - 1

Hot milk - 1 cup

Milk Powder - 1 cup

Cooking soda - 1 tsp

Baking Soda - 1/2 tsp

Vanilla essence - 1 tsp

oil - 1 cup ( Refined - i used Sunflower so that the oil odor do not overlay the cake)

Nuts - of your choice ( cashew/Badam/walnut etc)

ghee/butter - 1 tsp to grease the baking tray.

Steps:

Take a mixer jar and 1 cup of sugar, a piece of cinnamon stick and a clove.

Make it a fine powder.

Pre Heat the oven for 15 minutes in 180' C

Take a mixing bowl.

With a steel strainer filter, sieve all the items.

Then in the bowl, first add plain flour and then  add the following

  • sugar powder
  • milk powder
  • 1 cup of oil
  • 1 cup of hot milk
  • baking powder
  • baking soda
  • vanilla essence

Mix the contents well without any lumps.

Take a baking tray/pan and grease it with ghee/butter and add 1 tsp of plain flour along the walls of the tray.

Now pour the mixed contents and garnish with chopped nuts as you like on the top.

Bake it for 40 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven.

( Baking time depends on the oven)

Let it cool for 10 mins and I hope you must be surprised and happy with your first try on this bake.

Go ahead and enjoy the serving with your designed cut pieces with your family and friends.

Merry Christmas!
